Suns co-captain Tom Lynch has reportedly drawn strong interest from two powerhouse Victorian clubs, Richmond and Hawthorn, according to foxfooty.com.au.

Hawthorn and Richmond both consider themselves the front-runners to sign Lynch as his impending free agency circus continues to edge closer.

Despite not meeting with any teams yet, the interest beyond just the Hawks and Tigers is plentiful for the star forward, but Lynch's team is not ruling out the possibility of extending his contract with the Suns.

Hawthorn's forward line continues to grow older with skipper Jarryd Roughead turning 32 years old before the start of next season, and the Hawks have made it a priority to find his replacement.

The Tigers are looking to bolster their already sturdy list, and adding Lynch to their forward line could overshadow their premiership pressure and become an ever greater asset.

Whispers of Lynch's potential movements seem to be kept on the down low around his current club, as co-captain Steven May explained Lynch's awkward position.

“We say ‘what is going on’ because we read the media and see all the big contract offers he’s been getting,” May told Channel 7’s Game Day.

“We ask him to buy lunch and things and he does go into his shell a bit, which is fair enough. He’s in an awkward position because he’s captain and in the first year of his free agency which is still relatively new.”

Lynch will officially be out of contract and become a free agent in the 2018 AFL off-season.
