The upcoming Adelaide-Fremantle and GWS-West Coast AFLW clashes this weekend have been postponed due to COVID restrictions,

It comes as Western Australia and its surrounding areas went into a five-day lockdown from Sunday night following a positive coronavirus case in a hotel quarantine security guard.

All four clubs are involved in varying stages of the lockdown - with Fremantle and West Coast AFL and AFLW players only permitted an hour of exercise a day with another person, while Adelaide is back home at South Australia and has been advised to quarantine for two weeks.

Crows forward and AFLW assistant Tom Lynch will miss the next two weeks of pre-season in self isolation having just returned with the team from Perth.

"While COVID-19 continues to impact the community, the health and welfare of our players and the community remains the priority and we remain committed to delivering a full season in a safe manner anchored in the advice of respective governments, public health officials and medical experts," AFL head of womenโ€™s football Nicole Livingstone said in a statement.

"We will continue to remainย as adaptable as possible as the season progresses in a constantly changing environment and we will listen to and work closely with each stakeholder to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone in the game."

The AFLW confirmed that all remaining five matches will continue as fixtured.
