A trio of Melbourne forwards will be considered for recalls for Round 9, while a "refreshed" Clayton Oliver is in line to return to face the Hawks.
The Demons will be forced into at least one change after swingman Harrison Petty suffered a concussion in last Saturday's win over West Coast.
Petty was positioned forward and will make way as he works through concussion protocols, with his absence likely seeing Daniel Turner return to the backline despite a strong showing against the Eagles in attack.
Senior coach Simon Goodwin is likely to call on one of Jacob van Rooyen, Aidan Johnson or Matthew Jefferson to replace Petty in his starting side for this weekend's bout with Hawthorn.
"We're looking at everything at the moment," Goodwin said on Thursday.
"The three guys at VFL level we'll speak about post-training today - van Rooyen, Aidan Johnson and Jefferson.
"All of those three guys have played some really outstanding VFL footy, and they complement our team really well.
"We've got a decision to make post-training today. Jacob is one of those guys that's in the mix, for sure."
Midfielder Clayton Oliver is in line to return after missing Round 8 due to personal reasons, with the four-time best and fairest winner deciding to withdraw from selection.
Having since returned to training to place himself in the window for a recall, Oliver is set to face Hawthorn at the MCG on Saturday.
"It was pretty clear last week that he needed some time away from the game. A few days to really reset," Goodwin said of the Demons' ball magnet.
"We're really proud that he put his hand up and was able to take that time.
"What we've seen so far in the last few days is a refreshed Clayton. He's keen to get back into it, he's done a fair bit of training.
"We're looking forward to getting him back out on the footy field."
Melbourne, who are eyeing their fourth successive win, host the Hawks at the MCG at 1:20pm on Saturday, with another victory potentially lifting them into the top eight.
