AFL star Toby Greene announced earlier in the week that he would depart Greater Western Sydney to return home to Victoria and likely join Geelong alongside best mate Jeremy Cameron.
Speaking on SEN's Crunchtime on Saturday afternoon, the now former Giants skipper revealed some of the reasons and motivations behind the decision.
"I would love to have three kids and that's a lot easier in Victoria," Greene said.
"We got family support down here. We certainly struggled there with our first (child) as well, which was hard, but we are fine now. We're super happy. We love Sydney, love the people, love the club, but we wanted to go from a family perspective.
"From a selfish footy perspective, I'm gonna be really, really excited by a new challenge, it's something different, a new environment.
"Over the last few days before I got to a decision, I was like, 'Oh, I'm actually really excited to try something different and prove myself to new people and try and finish off my career with a lot of energy and fun'."
Geelong has spent the season hoping to attract the mercurial Greene to its football club to strengthen its talent, forward line and premiership credentials.
As Greene weighed up the move, he said a few beers with Geelong coach Chris Scott played a part in his decision.
"It was very sort of casual. We just went to Chris Scott's house and had a couple of beers around the table," he said.
"I just talked about like where my head's at, what I'm really struggling with.
"At that time I had no idea what I was going to do. I was really 50/50. We just pretty much spoke for two hours about what life would look like, where the club wants to get to.
"They didn't really put any pressure on me or anything message. (Cameron) to be fair never really pushed it at all. He texted me after the Freo loss and said, 'Mate, I'd love to play with you so much. I don't want to text you again about it.'

Greene leaves the Giants with a monumental mark on the game in New South Wales and the GWS Football Club.
The 32-year-old said he spent two weeks after the Giants' season ended jumping back and forth over whether to stay.
He eventually made the decision to move to Geelong on Wednesday night.
Greene said there were plenty of emotional calls with teammates and staffers after he made the decision to leave the club after 15 years. The star forward said some weren't happy with his move, but he completely understood that.
"Yeah, (called Stephen Coniglio) certainly in tears, and then Dave (Matthews), who I've been with for 15 years," he said.
"(Adam Kingsley) for four years. I love him as a coach. I reckon he's a great coach, great person, and then called Josh Kelly, (Lachie Whitfield).
"Harry Himmelberg. I've called about 20 of the boys so far now, but they were some of the first ones I called.
"A few boys (weren't happy); a couple. I won't mention them, but a couple boys were a bit (flat). Which is completely fair. I expect they weren't going to be happy about it. Especially as captain, like I didn't expect people to be happy at all."
