Richmond duo Daniel Rioli and Shai Bolton have reportedly been involved in a nightclub fight.

Nine News’ Alicia Muling first reported that the pair were involved in the scuffle on the weekend, with Bolton set to miss the next two to three weeks with a broken wrist.

The Tigers released the following statement on the matter, explaining that the altercation broke out after Rioli's girlfriend was "subjected to inappropriate behaviour”.

“Richmond players Daniel Rioli and Shai Bolton were involved in an incident at a nightclub over the weekend,” the statement reads.

“An altercation took place after Rioli’s girlfriend was subjected to inappropriate behaviour.

“Rioli was punched after confronting the patron and suffered a cut under his eye that required two stitches.

”Bolton became involved in the ensuing altercation and sustained a fractured wrist that will require surgery. He will be sidelined for the next two to three weeks.”

The pair are not expected to face disciplinary action, having come clean to the club about the incident on Sunday.

Fox Sports reports that it is believed to have been short and sharp altercation, with Victoria Police not involved.

According to AFL journalist Jon Ralph, Bolton is set to turn is back on big-money offers to return to Western Australia and instead re-sign with the Tigers.

Bolton is out of contract at season's end and enjoying a career-best season, taking a Mark of the Year contender in Friday night's loss to Geelong.
