Richmond have confirmed midfielder Shaun Grigg will miss at least the opening fortnight of the 2019 season, as he continues to battle a knee injury.

Grigg hasn't been able to train fully this pre-season, and will need time to up his training load to a respectable level.

Tigers General Manager - Football Neil Balme told the club's website Grigg just needs more time in order to get his body right.

โ€œShaun has been doing some good running sessions, but he just needs more time for his knee to improve, so that we can progress his training loads,โ€ Balme told richmondfc.com.au.

โ€œGiven that heโ€™s in a bit of a holding pattern with his training, at this stage we think itโ€™s unlikely that heโ€™ll be available to play in the next four weeks.โ€
