After dominant performances over the weekend from star high-half forwards, Kysaiah Pickett, Shai Bolton, and Zac Bailey, Daniel Harford believes these types of players are the new glamour guys of the AFL.
"The glamour guys in footy used to be the power forwards, then it evolved into the midfielders, they got all the coverage, all the press, but these days, do you know who they are?" Harford said on the Six Points podcast.
"The high half forwards, the guys that can jump into the middle of the ground, take a couple of centre square situations, go forward and hit the scoreboard really strongly.
"They are now the most important players in footy, they're the game breakers, they're more important than anyone, they are the best players in the game, and they're the ones winning games off their own boot every single week."
Harford believes that to contend for a premiership, teams must have one of these players.
"They are the ones that will make a difference and win you a flag," Harford said.
"If you want to be a premiership contender, you have to have one of those players.
"They're the ones that are breaking games open week in week out. If you don't have one, you need to find one quick.
"If you don't have one of those players, you can't win the flag."
