The rumour mill has gone into overdrive following claims from veteran journalist Caroline Wilson that an AFL "comeback is on the cards" for retired Richmond champion Alex Rance.

With someone as full a resume as Rance has, the five-time All Australia would certainly be in demand should his services become available.

If Rance did indeed decide to return to the AFL, we've counted down the five most realistic landing spots.

Do you agree with our five?

4. Gold Coast

All through Rance's career, he has shown to be a player who loves to operate outside of the media spotlight and retain a sense of privacy. And there is perhaps no better place for Rance to achieve this as well as make a meaningful football impact than with the Gold Coast Suns.

The Suns have gathered together a young list filled with stars across the field such as Matt Rowell, Ben King and most crucially for Rance, young defenders Jack Lukosius and Charlie Ballard. Rance could play a mentor role for these young players, similar to Brisbane with Luke Hodge.

Fellow Richmond premiership player Brandon Ellis has already made the move to the Sunshine State on a big deal. Could Rance join him in 2021 and help mould the Suns into a finals contender for years to come?

The opportunity to try and help lead an expansion to their first premiership could appeal.
