AFL great Ben Cousins' burgeoning media career has reached new heights, with the Brownlow Medal winner now locked into a sports presenter role withย 7 News Perth.ย

Cousins has taken on minor roles with the broadcaster recently as well as balancing coaching commitments with WAFL club Perth, where he has worked part-time.

The premiership Eagle has worked alongside Perth president Adrian Barich at Channel 7 and is now set to feature for the program's morning news sports bulletin at least three times per week.

Cousins is set to continue in his role of offering insight and analysis with Barich on Thursdays with their segment 'The Breakdown with Barra and Ben."

โ€œIt's been fun. A journey, but I'm learning every day,โ€ Cousins said, viaย Perth Now.ย

โ€œI can tell you, as the words scroll through, it's harder than it looks.โ€

Cousins brings a wealth of experience to the WA TV screens, having played 270 games across 14 seasons in the AFL, winning a Brownlow Medal in 2005 and six All-Australians between 1998 and 2006.

The 44-year-old has begun to build a promising career across both the media and coaching landscapes following his well-documented battle with substance addiction and subsequent rehabilitation .

โ€œYou can see why Cousins was a footy star. He's of course got natural ability, but his work ethic is incredibly impressive," Seven Network Perth News Director Ray Kuka said.

โ€œHis ability to focus, apply and strive for the best is a credit to him.

โ€œIt, of course, doesn't hurt that the camera loves him.โ€
