The 2026 trade and free agency period is done, but there is no rest for the wicked in the AFL.
List managers and recruiters will already be doing the groundwork on next year's uncontracted stars, trying to lure them to their respective clubs.
And 2027's list of uncontracted players and free agents is eye-catching.
Here at Zero Hanger, we have listed the 14 biggest names that head into next season with only one year remaining on their deals, and the clubs that will be eyeing them off like a lion with a gazelle.
James Sicily

The Hawks' co-captain might find himself falling down the pecking order at the club next year.
Sicily produced a magnificent performance in the Qualifying Final win against Fremantle, but there have been calls for his role to be given to young gun Josh Weddle.
The 31-year-old has been used more out of position on the wing late in the season and may lose his defensive role further in 2027.
Hawthorn's forward line is now stacked, limiting his opportunities there. Sicily is a great flag bearer for the club, and one of its captains, so he would be expected to stay at the Hawks.
But should they win the flag next season, perhaps an enticing contract offer from Tasmania could draw the veteran defender over to the Apple Isle to extend his career.
