North Melbourne and Alastair Clarkson have parted ways after four seasons together, even with one year remaining on his deal.

Clarkson returned to Arden Street ahead of 2023, and coached the club on 82 occasions for 20 wins.

Clarke has been with North Melbourne since the end of 2023 as an assistant under Alastair Clarkson.

Clarke continued his education at Punt Road, taking on the VFL top job in 2020 and applied for the vacancy left by Damien Hardwick, which was won by Adem Yze. He also led the Indigenous All Stars in the 2025 exhibition game.

He has been vocal about his ambitions to become the first Indigenous coach in the AFL era.
