North Melbourne and Alastair Clarkson have parted ways after four seasons together, even with one year remaining on his deal.

Clarkson returned to Arden Street ahead of 2023, and coached the club on 82 occasions for 20 wins.

Surprisingly, the Kangaroos rose from consecutive three-win seasons to nine this year, and were closing in on a Wildcard Round slot, but fell short.

Here are 13 names who could be a part of the North Melbourne conversation...

Interestingly, a lot of these names were part of the Carlton and Essendon coaching process.

John Longmire

There's a sense of romance if John Longmire were to return to Arden Street.

Longmire played 200 games for the Shinboners over 12 years, claiming a premiership medal in 1999 and the Coleman Medal, as well as the Syd Barker Award in 1990.

He's been coaching ever since, taking over from Sydney as the main man in 2012 before moving aside after a fifth grand final appearance in 2024.

Longmire has remained at the Swans in an off-field role, but has enough experience, tactical nous and desire to return to the coaching caper, reflected by his pursuit of the Tasmania Devils job.
