Zero Hanger's Mark Stevens says that premiership fancy Fremantle still has one great weakness, and that it lies in the strength above the shoulders.

Stevens was joined by leading West Australian sports journalist Digby Beacham on Zero Hanger's The Outer Wing (brought to you by TabTouch) to discuss the Dockers and their 2026 flag prospects.

Everything seems to be falling into place for Western Australian side this season, however, fans would be forgiven for being wary, given their history. Indeed, when asked to identify a weakness, Stevens was quick to cite signature Fremantle "wobble."

"What I would say is a weak link for Freo is above the shoulders." says Stevens. "Whether I can trust Freo when the crunch really comes, we saw it down in Geelong, they wobbled," he said on The Outer Wing.

Stevens is referring to Fremantle's Round 1 game against Geelong, where they lost by ten points. It is currently the only game Fremantle have lost this season.

"Freo is still Freo until they deliver on the big stage," Stevens said.

If Fremantle can overcome any mental stumbling blocks, they do seem well primed to go all the way to September this season, with Beacham saying that "they should be looking to finish top two."

Fremantle, who are one of only three AFL teams to have never won a premiership, have only made it to the top two once before, in 2013 when they lost to Hawthorn. This season has brought new hope to supporters, as long as they can continue to avoid a mental "wobble."

"That's my only concern. They've got the cattle there but we've seen them wobble before...It's a stain on their brand," Stevens said.
