Sydney have announced more AFLW signatures, with Lisa Steane and Bella Smith committing to the club ahead of the new season while North ruck Lexi Hamilton has expressed interest in joining the side.
The Swans, who are one of four new teams in the competition this season, have been busy building their list across the last few months, with Brenna Tarrant and Jaide Anthony committing to the red and white last week.
Steane joins the club from GWS, having played 20 games across her three-year career.
The 27-year-old will add valuable experience to the inaugural side, something that Swans AFLW coach Scott Gowans praised.
โLisa brings 20 games of AFLW experience with her โ ย sheโs a strong midfielder who has a great kick,โ Gowans said.
โSheโs a great runner, sheโs played AFL for over a decade, and was a Rising Star nominee in her first year playing AFLW.โ
Young defender Smith will head up north from Collingwood, having played 10 matches across two seasons at the Pies.
A former state-level cricketer, the 20-year-old has already impressed at the Giants.
โBella brings versatility to the side, she can play ruck, forward and back,โ Gowans said.
โThe fact that sheโs done a few pre-seasons and played a few AFLW games means she brings with her the experience at that top level. Sheโs also been part of a great program at Collingwood too.ย
โBella is a very resilient athlete who has moved to multiple states to pursue her career in AFLW.โ
North Melbourne will part with young ruck Hamilton, who leaves the club after two senior games and solid performances in the VFLW to explore other opportunities at Sydney.
The Kangaroos thanked Hamilton for her time at the club, praising her work-ethic.
"Although Lexi has only been with us for a short time, her work-ethic and attitude this season were terrific, and will no doubt hold her in great stead in the AFLW moving forward," North Melbourne AFLW football performance and list manager Rhys Harwood said.
"With increased levels of player movement, we understand Lexiโs decision to pursues another opportunity, and thank her for her service to North Melbourne."
