Sydney star Isaac Heeney will miss the Swans' Thursday night clash with Western Bulldogs with calf tightness.

He has averaged 25 disposals, two goals and five tackles this season to reinforce his standing as one of the competition's elite midfielders.

The Swans have a 10-day break before facing Melbourne at home which should enable him to be back for Round 8.

It comes as the Western Bulldogs made five changes.

Rory Lobb, who had been considered a chance to play after being withdrawn from last Friday night's game with a hamstring injury, joins Tom Liberatore, James O'Donnell and Sam Darcy on the sidelines.

Marcus Bontempelli has been named after being in some doubt with a knee injury suffered last week, but is set to face a matchday fitness test.

Jordan Croft was surprisingly omitted from the line-up, given the Dogs are depleted for tall stocks, with the club preferring first-gamer Lachie Smith and first year player Louis Emmett.

Adam Treloar's return has been confirmed following his 41-disposal outing last Friday.

He played just two games last year and was part of Footscray's VFL flag, but will provide important reinforcement to a midfield group missing Liberatore and Tim English.

Small forward Josh Dolan

Meanwhile, Sydney's omission of defender Joel Hamling will allow the 2016 premiership Bulldog to attend the 10-year flag reunion.

It will put Hamling in an interesting position, given he will have the opportunity to attend the function for his former club in a game against his current club.

Corey Warner was also omitted as Will Edwards and Billy Cootee debut and Dane Rampe returns.
