Sydney midfielder Dan Hannebery is in doubt for round one as he continues to battle a calf injury.

The 26-year-old suffered a minor setback with his calf early in the pre-season, and was initially listed as doubtful for the JLT Community Series, although he's now a chance to miss the first round of the season proper.

"Dan is ok now, but he has taken his time since coming off his groin at the end of last year so we were really conservative with him," Longmire told reporters on Wednesday.

"He hurt his calf a number of weeks ago which put him back at bit but he is back into running now and looking good.

"He [Hannebery] will be touch and go for the start of the season.

"It is about making sure he is right for the majority of the season rather than Round 1 at this stage."

With Longmire suggesting the Swans will take a long-term view with Hannebery's return, it seems as though he may be unlikely to make Sydney's trip to the west to face the Eagles on March, 25 at the new Optus Stadium.
