Sydney veteran Kurt Tippett has undergone ankle reconstruction surgery on Monday, as he looks set to remain at the Swans in 2018.

Speculation has swirled all trade period about whether the Swans would try to offload the under performing and injury prone big man, but the 30-yer-old's manager, Peter Blucher said his client will remain at Sydney next year.

"He won't be moving anywhere, for sure," Blucher said.

"As of about six minutes time, I think he's having an ankle reconstruction.

"That's going to put him out for a few months."

Tippett's latest bout of surgery means he will have a delayed pre-season, further jeopardizing his potential to play regular senior games for the Swans next year.

Injury and form restricted the former Crow to just nine senior games this season but Sydney football manager Tom Harley also told reporters at the beginning of the trade period the club did not intend to trade Tippett.

“It (trading Tippett) hasn’t been discussed,” Harley said.

“He’s contracted at this stage. We come in the a pretty open mind because all of our important players are signed and contracted so the point we take is that you have to keep all your options open."
