In 2017, Luke Strnadica was owned by 54,653 Supercoach teams last season - the 22nd highest owned player of the season, owned more then number 1 ranked ruckman Mathew Kreuzer. The rookie listed ruckman, was vitally important to these sides as he provided owners a 'doughnut' in order to maximize their teams score.

The term 'floating doughnut' refers to the concept of sacrificing 1 of your 30 spots on your fantasy team, for a player that will feature as remotely as possible and for the player to be apart of a team that will generally feature in the latter parts of the round, preferably Sunday's. The main purpose of this player is so he can be used as your "captains loophole". So if you whack your vice captain on a player playing on either the Friday or Saturday that you think will score a whopping score and he does, you can substitute your floating doughnut on, and put the captains armband on him to ensure that your vice captain gets the double points.

In 2018, there are four teams that'll play 10 or more Sunday games and consequently provide a good outlet when choosing your doughnut.

In terms of games played on a Sunday, West Coast, Fremantle, Melbourne and North Melbourne don't have a basement low ruck/forward player that Strandica provided us with last season. In terms of establishing the best ruck/forward  to choose this year would be Max Lynch from Collingwood who will play 7 Sunday games this season. However, due to Ryder and Nankervis, last years standout ruck/forward player, not standing out as much to Supercoach owners this year around, having a dual position ruck/forward as your floating doughnut may not be a necessity. Tony Olango (WCE), Luke Strnadica (FRE), Mitch King (MELB) or Lachlan Filipovic (MELB) might be the best option for supercoachers this year. Alternatively, Tair Bayok a MID/FWD from West Coast could be an option if your're willing to sacrifice a midfield or forward reserve.

Mitch King Melbourne Ruck

Kane Farrell Port Adelaide DEF/MID
Sam Hayes Port Adelaide FWD/RUCK

However, going forward, picking a floating doughnut is vital if you are looking at ultimate glory this season in Supercoach, whoever you decide to choose.
