Collingwood and North Melbourne goal-kicking weapon Saverio Rocca was once again overlooked to be inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
Earlier in the week, six inductees were introduced into the illustrious group, headed by Gary Ablett Jnr, but for another year, Rocca was bypassed.
The former Pie and Roo sits 17th in the all-time goal-kicking with 748 majors, and is the only member of the top 30 players, who are eligible for the Hall of Fame, not selected.
Richmond great Matthew Richardson, who kicked 800 goals and is in the Hall of Fame, believes this oversight is "the stiffest omission".
“This is my case for why he should be in the Hall of Fame,” Richardson told 3AW.
“Sav Rocca is not in the Hall of Fame, and every single year, I cannot believe it.
“If you look at the top 30 V/AFL goal kickers of all-time, Rocca is 17th.
“Out of that top 30, every single player that is eligible is in the Hall of Fame, except Saverio.
“I don't know why he's not in. I think he should be in. I think he is one of the stiffest omissions.
“The other guys in the top 30 who aren't in, Lance Franklin's not eligible yet, he'll go straight in. Tom Hawkins he'll probably go straight in. Jack Riewoldt will go in. Josh Kennedy from the Eagles probably will and Taylor Walker will.
“They'll all go in, and Sav Rocca probably still won't be in. I just don't know why he's not in.”
Rocca played 251 games in 16 seasons with Collingwood and North Melbourne, claiming the 1995 Copeland Trophy, as well as 10 goal-kicking awards across both clubs.
He also won two Anzac Day Medals, including the inaugural match in 1995.
Rocca then spent seven years in the NFL as a punter, kicking the long ball for the Philadelphia Eagles and then the Washington Redskins.
