Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley is set to miss at lerast six weeks after suffering a syndesmosis left ankle injury, the club has confirmed.

In a statement published on the club website, the Bulldogs confirmed that scans the injury after the 23-year-old landed awkwardly in the final seconds of the club's win over GWS.

"Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley is expected to miss at least six weeks with an ankle injury," the statement reads.

"Dunkley landed awkwardly in the final seconds of last Friday night’s match against GWS at Marvel Stadium.

"Scans have since confirmed a syndesmosis injury in his left ankle."

The injury will be a further blow to the Dogs' midfield depth, with winger Lachie Hunter still to miss two more weeks of a club-imposed suspension.

The Bulldogs recorded their first win on Friday night and sit at 1-2 with Sydney and North Melbourne set to come in the next two weeks.
