Despite being originally overlooked by the Brisbane Lions during his draft year, the son of club legend and incoming Carlton coach Michael Voss could soon call the Gabba home.
According to Jay Clark of The Herald Sun, Casey Voss is being eyed by the Queensland side as a mature-aged prospect after claiming SANFL club Sturt's best and fairest this season.
The 21-year-old offspring of the Brownlow Medallist produced a stellar season for the 'Two Blues', finishing with an average of more than 23 disposals across a year where his side finished just a win shy of a place in the finals.
While the son-of-a-gun was snubbed by his father's club at the 2018 draft, Sturt head coach Martin Mattner suggested that Voss deserved a chance to ply his trade at the top level.
“He is one of the smartest players I have ever seen play the game of footy. That is AFL, SANFL, everything,” the former Crow and Swan spruiked.
“His vision with the ball in hand and his is ability to read the play, intercept mark and rebound out of defence or go inside 50m are fantastic.
“He just knows how to find the footy, he defends really well and he is a ripping kid.”
Though a list management decision by the Lions is yet to be made, Voss claimed he had put in power of work to give himself another opportunity at achieving his dream.
“For me, it was about work rate and just playing some more consistent footy,” the 182cm prospect said.
“In previous years I had patches where I was able to play well, but this year I was able to put that together more consistently.
“The dream is to play at the highest level I can and if that does happen for me, then it would be great reward for the effort I’ve put in.
“I would love to get there.”
Voss will find out whether his efforts were rewarded when the AFL draft commences on November 24.
At the time of writing, Brisbane currently holds a healthy hand of selections that includes picks 14, 18, 41, 54, 60, 76, and 90.
Should the child of the triple premiership-winning captain fail to be plucked with a senior selection, a further opportunity as a rookie may present itself on November 26.
