Justin Longmuir's Fremantle outfit have equalled a club record with their ninth straight victory on Sunday afternoon.

In miserable, soapy conditions, the Dockers raced out to a 52-point lead on the back of some goalkicking that belied the weather from former Essendon reserves player, Patrick Voss.

The cult figure kicked four majors in the second term alone, finishing the match with five in an outing that taunted those of a red and black persuasion.

Voss did his part to play down the tension associated with facing the side that never gave him his chance at the level, post-match, but he was sure to celebrate each goal wholly, between the sirens.

“It's a little while ago, now - I think it was two or three years ago - it's just like any game now," he said.

“I think the first one was built up a little bit, but after that, they're all the same.

“There are still some people that I know there, still got some great relationships, but it's just the same as every other game, really.”

The Bombers showed some fight in the second half, losing by a more respectable 43 points. On the back of a Rising Star nomination last week, the play of Sullivan Robey was again a bright spot for Brad Scott and his coaching panel, with the Rowville native showing plenty of fight in just his sixth game, against one of the competition's premier midfields.

Young key forwards Nate Caddy and Archer May also showed glimpses of the players they promise to be, with the latter memorably slotting difficult set shots, from distance, in trying conditions.

Docker Chris Scerri, who grew up in the Essendon territory of Strathmore, scored his first goal at the level for Fremantle after being picked up as an SSP selection in the pre-season.

It is the third time the Dockers have won nine straight games, after doing so in 2006 and 2015.

Longmuir's men will look to best the club's high water mark for consecutive victories when they host the St Kilda Saints on Friday night, renewing hostilities with former coach Ross Lyon, in the process.
