Legendary AFL Coach and Essendon great, Kevin Sheedy, has predicted the annual 'Country Game', between Essendon and Geelong will eventually draw crowds of 90,000.

2018 will be the third installment of the annual fixture, and with crowds of just 47,723 and 57,172, Sheedy's prediction is certainly a massive one.

However, he remains adamant that with more meetings, and tight contests, the crowd figures will reach the 90,000 mark.

"We think we'll get somewhere near 90 [thousand fans] in the next few years." Sheedy told Triple M.

With Sheedy being a major instigator in some of the bigger fixtures in the footballing calendar now, like the ANZAC day clash, and Dreamtime at the 'G, it's a bold prediction many will take note in the coming years.

Both teams will be looking to make finals once again in 2018, and with both teams playing exciting football, as well as in the inclusion of hometown hero, Gary Ablett Jr., Sheedy may well be onto something.

"Eventually you wont be able to get a ticket to the game, like ANZAC Day."
