Sydney was adamant that Nick Blakey will be at the club in 2027 when the AFL trade period opened earlier this week, but his name will not go away from speculation.
Blakey is reported to be frustrated with the Swans following the handling of the Pullman Hotel incident, and is understood to be after a fresh start.
Swans list manager Chris Keane said the club had not received any indication the dashing defender wanted to move.
"We've had no indication from Nick or his management about that. Nick has five years to run on his contract, so, again, like the other four boys, we expect him to be back at the club next year," Keane said on Monday.
And yet, multiple clubs believe he is gettable.
However, making things complicated is the lingering police investigation, which won't be resolved before the end of the trade period, meaning clubs would be taking a risk of Blakey and his availability.
Here we name SEVEN potential landing spots for the All-Australian.
Geelong
The Cats, like every year, have their name linked to just about every player considering a move, and this year is no different.
They were in the race for Zak Butters. Landed Toby Greene. They want Jordan Ridley and Rowan Marshall. And now Blakey is on the horizon.
Geelong has been reported to be planning a meeting with the star Swan, if they haven't already. St Kilda believes the Kardinia Park club is withholding Pick 14, which the Saints want for Rowan Marshall, to use for Blakey.
Fremantle is after Lawson Humphries, and stated its interest in the Western Australian, although it was pragmatic about the attempt to lure the contracted defender.
Would the Cats let go of Humphries if they knew they could get Blakey?
The Dockers could hand over Pick 17 for Humphries, which could help sweeten a deal with the Swans.
