Geelong had high hopes going into season 2020, hoping to right the wrongs of their 2019 prelim final exit at the hands of the Tigers.

Their elite list meant that they were once again firmly entrenched in the contender column of most people's season predictions, and they lived up to that label as they made their first grand final since 2011.

However, the season was to end in heartbreak as they were once again denied by Richmond as Gary Ablett Jr.'s amazing career ended on a low.

2. WORST LOSS

Grand Final vs Richmond: Of course, this was the most heartbreaking loss for the Cats of the last decade, and not just because of the game itself.

Geelong lead by 15 points at half-time, before getting run over by the rampant Tigers as a Dustin Martin-inspired masterclass saw Richmond create a dynasty.

AFL legend Gary Ablett Jr. went down injured with a broken shoulder in the first quarter but amazingly played on in his final, heartbreaking goodbye to football which will unfortunately haunt him for the rest of his days.
