Geelong great Sam Newman has called out veteran journalist Caroline Wilson over two old articles published in The Age.

The former AFL star recently parted ways with Channel Nine after making controversial comments about George Floyd and the the Black Lives Matter movement in Australia.

Wilson criticised Newman at the time and pointed out his bad track record in public relations with such issues.

“Sam, you've got a terrible history in the area of race relations, and you've done it again, unleashing a series of bitter and divisive rants,” she said on Footy Classified before Newman departed Channel 9.

“What an unfortunate piece of timing that the Sunday Footy Show decided to bring you back this week and portray you as the venerable football bead after you had unleashed so much bitterness.”

And now, Newman has fired back on Twitter with his own explosive claims.

One user pointed out to Newman on the first post: "To be fair, it was likely a reference to the legendary @WWE King Kong Bundy, rather than the famous movie monster en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Kong

But the 74-year old was not having any of it: "To be fair? Get a grip. How naive would you be not to join the dots. That headline IS the personification of racism"

It is not the first time Newman and Wilson have butt heads, with the feud dating back to the former's time on the Footy Show.
