North Melbourne appears set to rekindle the AFL career of former Sydney defender Toby Pink, with the Roos poised to pluck the ex-Swan as a delisted free agent.

Pink, now 25, first made the move from South Australia to the Harbour City in 2016 after Sydney used the final selection - pick 54 - of that season's rookie draft to make the Glenelg product a Swan.

Yet, after three years at Moore Park and no AFL debut, Pink was delisted by the Swans, eventually returning home to Adelaide to rekindle his SANFL career back at Brighton Road.

Since rejoining the Tigers ahead of the 2020 season, the redheaded stopper has made 59 league appearances, including shifting forward to slot nine goals in the yellow and the black.

After playing a leading hand in Glenelg's premiership win over Sturt at the Adelaide Oval last month, the Roos reportedly came knocking, with Nine News' Braden Ingram reporting that Pink's arrival at Arden Street was imminent.

Pink's 194cm and 94 kg frame will go some way to helping fill the void set to be left behind by Ben McKay when the fellow defender officially joins the Bombers as a free agent.

North Melbourne is expecting to land Pick 3 at November's National Draft as compensation for losing McKay's services.

At present, the Shinboners are currently armed with picks 2, 14, 19, 42, 54 and 62.
