Just weeks after North Melbourne beat out arch-rivals Essendon for the prized signature of Alastair Clarkson, the side from Arden Street is reportedly on the verge of a secondary victory, this time at the trade table.

With Clarkson already busying himself with the tasks of forging his coaching and playing list, the Roos are said to have a litany of names already on their radar.

While the likes of Brad Hill, Ben Long and Tanner Bruhn have each been linked with shifts to the rebuilding Roos, contracted Docker Darcy Tucker is said to be firming towards on a move back across the Nullarbor.

The West Australian had previously noted five Victorian clubs were in the hunt for Tucker, with Essendon, North Melbourne, Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn linked to the midfielder.

However, as reported by 7News' Tom Browne, the Victorian appears set to cap his tenure out west after seven seasons, with North Melbourne tipped to land the 25-year-old's services should he depart.

Since joining the Cockburn club with 27th pick of the 2015 National Draft, Tucker has amassed 108 games for Fremantle, playing across both the centre and half-back lines.

With injury and form having curbed the Horsham product's season and capping his output at just 14 games, Tucker has seen his name fall out of favour in 2022, with an array of other conduits preferred by head coach Justin Longmuir.

Still, given Tucker's ability to play numerous roles across the park, as well as his relative experience at the level, the North Ballarat Rebels product appears a pleasing prospect to help Clarkson plug a number of locker room gaps.

At the present, the Kangaroos hold picks 1, 55, 66 and 73 to help satisfy a trade with Fremantle.

Conversely, if Essendon is to nudge themselves into the lead for Tucker's signature, they too hold a series of selections that could get a deal done, including picks 4, 22, 40, 58 and 76.
