North Melbourne is reportedly targeting Collingwood free agent Nathan Brown, according to AFL.com.au.

Brown is said to have a contract offer from the Pies, but will asses his option during the next month.

The 27-year-old has struggled for continuity throughout his career, battling several serious injuries.

He missed the entire 2011 season, while he managed just three games in 2014 due to persistent shoulder injuries.

The 2010 premiership player was then dropped after Round 6 this season, but was recalled to the side in Round 14. He enjoyed a return to form in the back half of the year, playing the final 10 games of the season

Brown, who is the twin brother of West Coast defender, Mitch, could cover the loss of veteran backman, Michael Firrito, who was recently delisted by the Kangaroos.

He has played 130 games for the Pies since being selected with pick No.10 in the 2006 National Draft.

  1. Nathan is no spud….he is still one of the best big forward shut down defenders in the game and the pies would be crazy to let him go to the perennial 8th placed North….Pies will be top 4 next year, North heading Southwards to the bottom 4 Id say in 2017…
