Richmond VFL duo Sam Toner and Mutaz El Nour will both be available to clubs at the Mid-Season Draft after being absent from the initial list of nominees released earlier this week.

Skilful, speedy forward Toner is set to meet with Richmond later this week, with Western Bulldogs and Geelong believed to be potential other suitors.

Toner has now nominated for the Mid-Season Draft, while El Nour will do so later this week.

As previously reported by this masthead, the Dogs are set to use just one pick despite the opportunity to pick a second player, while many expect the Cats won't make a selection, despite Harley Barker's injury opening up the possibility for them to do so.

The Tigers have already met with experienced defender Mutaz El Nour and Bendigo Pioneers graduate Zaydyn Lockwood.

With their first pick, the club is widely expected to select Jaxon Artemis, who returned home to Western Australia on Monday ahead of next Tuesday's intake.

There is a school of thought from some in the industry that the Tigers are keen to promote a VFL player onto their AFL list given the success of players who have gone elsewhere, such as Tom McCarthy, Sam Davidson and Massimo D'Ambrosio.

El Nour has also courted interest from West Coast, where former Tigers recruiter Matthew Clarke takes care of the list.

The club has been linked to a host of players, and are expected to take someone with state league experience.

Frankston defender Jackson Voss, a close friend of last year's Mid-Season pickup Tom McCarthy, has been linked to the Eagles - and Melbourne - as has West Adelaide ruck Caleb May.

Adelaide and Port Adelaide are both expected to take South Australians, with the Crows linked to Tom Bell, who trained with the AFL squad in pre-season and the Power linked to Alex Van Wyk.

Essendon has narrowed down its selection to a handful of players including Talent League 19-year-olds Ollie Griffin and Nick Staropoli.

Griffin has met with six clubs and is viewed as the leading prospect from the Talent League, while Staropoli has a cricketing background and had not completed a footballing pre-season before this year.

He has shot onto the radar as an athletic intercepting defender and will play his second game for Essendon's VFL side this weekend.

Western Jets defender Noah McMenamin is another Talent League teenager with interest. Like Staropoli, he will play his second VFL game this weekend for Collingwood.

The Pies are now likely to be in the market for a ruck following an ACL injury to Oscar Steene, with Max Mapley, Van Wyk, May and Harrison Coe among the leading contenders.

Melbourne is expected to take an experienced ruck to replace Tom Campbell.

North Melbourne VFL pair James Tarrant and Xavier Bamert and Geelong VFL's Marcus Herbert are others with strong interest.
