Richmond has bid farewell to two of its star veterans with defender Nathan Broad and midfielder Dion Prestia playing their last game for the club at the MCG on Saturday.
Prestia and Broad are both holding out hope of playing AFL in 2027, but it will have to be at another club for both players.
Flag heroes from the glory years at Tigerland from 2017 to 2020, the duo have six premiership medallions between them, and they said their goodbyes to the Richmond faithful together on the Fox Footy broadcast after a 49-point loss against St Kilda.
"I apologise to the club for $100,000 I spent on scans," Prestia laughed when reflecting on his time at Richmond.
"It's everything I have ever dreamt of coming here for the last 10 years, so three premierships is yeah, unbelievable. But it's more the people you meet along the way. Like, the club is amazing and always have a connection and, yeah, it's people that you meet along the way, which I will remember forever as well."
Broad was also asked to reflect on his time at Punt Road.
"The club means everything to me," Broad said.
"One of the only clubs that showed faith in me back then when I was a 22-year-old plumber, and, like I've said before, I'm indebted to this club forever.
"I've had some amazing memories, and at the moment, we're in a little bit of a tough spot, but I know the group's in an amazing position culturally and they're on the right track, and I can't wait to sit up in the stands, enjoy it with a frothy, and watch them win a flag."
The Tigers swung Broad forward late in the game in an attempt for him to kick his first ever goal at the MCG. However, he was thwarted by the St Kilda defence, in particular Jack Silvagni.
"Yeah, where's Silvagni? Where is he?" Broad said, turning to the St Kilda players with a smile.
"He bloody came over and killed me but yeah, trying to sneak forward, trying to snag a goal, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I couldn't kick any during my career, so why kick one today?"
Key forward Tom Lynch was also part of the celebrations as he played his 250th match.
Lynch has had a decorated career and is expected to be given a one-year extension by the Tigers for 2027.
The 33-year-old kicked 254 goals in 131 games after being drafted to Gold Coast in 2010. He was then traded to Richmond at the end of 2018 and has kicked 251 goals from 119 games since, while also winning two premierships.
Broad was a mature-age draftee out of Swan Districts in the WAFL with Pick 67 in the 2015 National Draft. Since then, Broad has gone on to play 191 games and is the fastest footballer in history by games played (70) to win three flags.
Prestia was originally drafted to Gold Coast with Pick 9 in the 2010 National Draft.
The "Human Meatball" as he is affectionately known, was traded to the Tigers with Pick 24 for Richmond's Pick 6 and a future second-rounder in 2016.
That deal quickly turned out to be a steal, as Prestia helped guide the Tigers to a drought-breaking premiership the next season.
Prestia said he is holding out hope to play at another club in 2027, believing that he still has something to offer as a footballer. His 27 disposals and five score involvements against the Saints on Saturday proved that.
Broad also hopes to continue his AFL career, but he and his family are moving to Perth while expecting their second child, so he will only play for Fremantle or West Coast if they want him.
