West Coast Eagles defender Jeremy McGovern is reportedly tossing and turning on whether to hold off on contract talks with his club until the conclusion of the 2018 season.

McGovern's current contract outlines that at the end of the season he will be a restricted free agent, but despite this he is still attracting a lot of interest from rival clubs.

Both McGovern and the Eagles are reportedly moving in on an agreement, but the length of the potential contract remains a wrinkle for the two to iron out, according to the Herald Sun.

The Herald Sun also reported that the 26-year-old was offered a $7 million deal over six years from a Victorian club, in an effort to lure him in to their potential back line.

The All-Australian defender is set to have a conversation with West Coach management this week to decide whether it's best to stall negotiations until the Eagles 2018 campaign is over.
