St Kilda has reportedly set its sights on Sydney midfielder Zak Jones as they look to add more pace into their engine room.

The 24-year-old recently signed a two-year extension with the Swans in 2017, but is yet to begin terms on a new contract this season.

AFL.com.au understand the Saints will go after Jones again like they did back in 2017, after he begins the 2019 season in strong form.

St Kilda has been on the lookout for more midfield talent over the past few seasons, pursuing the likes of Dylan Shiel and Josh Kelly in recent years.

The Saints would have liked to go after Kelly again this season, although they believe he'll remain a Giant in 2020.
