North Melbourne have confirmed their interest in Collingwood midfielder Jordan De Goey, reportedly offering the 22-year-old a five-year deal worth $5 million.

The young star is out of contract at season's end, and North Melbourne's offer to De Goey signals their intent in once again chasing big names players.

The Age reported the story on Wednesday afternoon, and confirmed the Saints have also made an offer close to North Melbourne's.

After missing the opening three rounds due to another club-imposed suspension, De Goey has impressed for the Pies throughout the season, averaging 18 disposals, 3.7 marks and 3.3 tackles per game.

His 1.7 goals per contest is a career-high.

The Pies have opened talks with De Goey, and it is believed they would need to offer the young gun close to $850,000 to keep him at the club.
