Star GWS midfielder Dylan Shiel will reportedly be the target of some intense discussion during the upcoming trade period, with three Victorian clubs placing the Giant firmly in their sights.

Hawthorn, Essendon and Carlton are all rumoured to be interested in the 25-year-old, who is out-of-contract at the end of the 2019 season.

According to Channel 7's Tom Browne, Shiel is gettable this October in the trade period, with the Hawks, Bombers and Blues all circling.

"He's very much focused at the moment on hopefully winning a flag this year, but I'm convinced Shiel will also be involved in trade discussions at the end of the year, in particular with Hawthorn, Essendon and Carlton playing some strong interest behind the scenes," Browne reported on Friday night.

Shiel's name has long been mentioned as a possible trade target for the Blues, with many suggesting they should give up their No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft for the Giant, should they finish with the wooden spoon.

Shiel has played 18 matches this season, and is averaging 25.9 disposals, 4.6 inside 50s and 4.4 clearances.
