North Melbourne are set to be one of the big teams in this year's free agency period once again, and the Roos have reportedly set their sights on out-of-contract Collingwood star Jordan De Goey.

According to foxfooty.com.au, North Melbourne are open to not only offering De Goey a $750,000+ per season deal, but could throw in their first round draft selection, and possibly a best 22 player.

After booting six goals against the Saints on Saturday night, De Goey is in the best form of his career, and is set yet to enter into contract discussions with Collingwood.

The Roos are still keen to bring in Tarryn Thomas through the draft given he's in their academy, and if they were to pair his inclusion with De Goey, it would be the midfield duo they've been hunting over the past couple of seasons.

North Melbourne famously were in the hunt for both Dustin Martin and Josh Kelly, before the pair re-signed at their current clubs.

Kangaroos captain Jack Ziebell spoke about De Goey on the radio on Tuesday night.

“I think we probably could (fit Jordan in) if he wanted to come across,” Ziebell told 3AW Sportsday.

“At the end of the day, if you get the best players playing for you, then you’ve got more of a chance to win games of football and that’s what we are about.”

St Kilda are also reportedly interested in De Goey, who has been a revelation this season after making his return from a club imposed suspension in round four, booting 15 goals in six games in 2018.
