Melbourne defender Sam Frost is reportedly being courted by the Hawks, with the 26-year-old still without a contract for 2020.

Frost had a career-best year playing at fullback for the Demons, featuring in all 22 games en route to 13.5 disposals, 4.3 marks and 3.2 rebound 50s per game.

In a poor year for Melbourne, Frost was one of their shining lights down back, and he's caught the eyes of Hawthorn, according to Sam McClure.

“Sam Frost, the Melbourne defender who is out of contract, there’s some interest there from the Hawthorn Football Club,” McClure told SEN’s Bob and Andy.

“There has been contact between the Hawks and the Frost camp.

“I think he’ll be chasing a longer term deal than what the Dees are offering him.

"He hasn't been formally offered an extension with the Demons ... the Demons have indicated to him that he is a required player and there will be a contract coming his way."

Frost has played 91 games for the Demons since making his debut in 2012 with GWS.
