Tom Brown told 7Mate's Talking Footy on Tuesday that another Victorian team is challenging Carlton for the pursuit of Tom Papley.

“North now is in the box seat,” Browne told 7Mate’s Talking Footy.

“He just wants to get home. North are offering — and this is a huge figure — $800,000 or $900,000, I’m told. Carlton can’t pay that much."

It is also reported that Papley is close with Kangaroos coach, Rhyce Shaw who was a former Swans player and assistant coach.

Wayne Carey believes North are offering too much for the 23-year-old, he feels the offer is "over the top."

Papley is a Sydney contracted player until 2023.
