Former St Kilda coach Alan Richardson is being chased by two Victorian clubs according to a report by The Herald Sun.

The Herald Sun believes North Melbourne and Melbourne are the frontrunners for Richardson's services as an assistant coach.

While keen to return to coaching, Richardson is understood to not be pursuing a senior job after his dismissal from the Saints in July.

The former Collingwood player has also reportedly talked to the GWS Giants and has had interest from the Gold Coast Suns.

For North Melbourne, the experienced Richardson would be an ideal fit as a mentor to young head coach Rhyce Shaw.

The departure of Melbourne assistants Brendan McCartney and Craig Jennings would also open up a spot for Richardson at the Demons.

It is believed that Melbourne would look to use Richardson's experience in development if he were to join the club.
