Determining Scott Pendlebury's greatest career game is no easy task — especially when there are 432 performances to choose from.
It is quite literally the most difficult assignment given how many matches, and high-level efforts, he's produced.
But in a week dedicated to celebrating and honouring the soon-to-be V/AFL games record holder, it became fitting that a moment of reflection and admiration of Pendlebury ensued.
To play 433 AFL games shouldn't be understated, and given his composed and pragmatic demeanour, on occasion, his incredible feats and longevity can be too easily dismissed.
But I won't be underrating Pendles in this article. Here's Pendlebury's top 10 AFL games...
4Anzac Day 2026
#431
If there was ever a time to break records, it was the 2026 Anzac Day clash.
Pendlebury is very fond of the marquee clash, having played the most out of any Collingwood or Essendon player, and was equal with James Hird on Anzac Day Medals.
Until now. A record fourth BOG medal put Pendlebury on his own, while his 43 disposals was a personal best across his career, which came in game 431.
He also slotted two goals, recorded 10 marks, four clearances and two goal assists.
“It was amazing. It's such a special day to pay on and the fans always turn out,” Pendlebury told Fox Footy after claiming the medal.
“It was just one of those days where the ball just keeps finding you, even if you don't want it to. I went deep forward top sort of get out of the game and sit there – and next minute it finds you again.”
