Premiership Eagle Dom Sheed is set to turn his back on free agency and re-sign with the club on a long-term deal.

AFL Media's Callum Twomey reports that the gun midfielder is nearing a four-year extension with the Eagles, which would tie him to the club until the end of 2025.

Sheed was set to be one of the biggest names to enter a loaded free agency class at season's end where he would have restricted status.

However, the Eagles have now moved to retain the man who sealed their 2018 Grand Final triumph.
