Port Adelaide have confirmed the re-signing of in-form utility Miles Bergman, who has turned his back on growing attention from Victoria to remain at Alberton Oval.
Bergman had garnered reported interest from a host of clubs from his home state, with Collingwood, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs among those tied to the midfield-defender.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Power through the 2019 AFL Draft as a first-round selection, said he was excited for the future after extending his stay until the end of 2027 on a two-year deal.
โI've loved my time at Port Adelaide since being drafted, and the club has continued to give me great opportunities to develop as a footballer and as a person,โ he said in a club statement.
โMy teammates and coaches have helped me get to where I am today and I appreciate everything they've done for me. My fiancรฉ Meecah and I are happy to call Port Adelaide home.
โI'm so excited about this young playing group and leadership group and I feel like we can go a long way over the next few years.โ
Bergman has played 98 games for Port Adelaide, making his debut in 2021 against North Melbourne.
After spending most of his career in defence as a versatile intercept and rebound option under Ken Hinkley, Bergman has begun to flourish as a midfielder capable of restricting the opposition's best talent while also remaining damaging with ball-in-hand.
In his most recent performance, Bergman recorded 25 disposals, two goals, six inside 50s and five clearances in a win over Carlton.
Bergman's signing follows a strong retention window for the Power, who have also locked in new deals for Logan Evansย (2028),ย Kane Farrellย (2030),ย Dante Visentini (2027) and Josh Sinn (2027) this year.
