Former Brisbane Lions star Jonathon Brown's harsh comments on the Magpies' pre-season training habits have taken a turn once more, with Ben Reid being the latest player to defend his club's training practices.

Brown made his thoughts known on Fox Footy's On The Couch on Monday night, explaining that he believes the Pies' training efforts lacked intensity and called out the team's leadership group.

Collingwood's premiership player told SEN Breakfast that intensity is not something that the team is concerned with and that he believes their on-field performance is the only thing that should be critiqued.

“The only way we can deal with it is showing up game day and playing good footy, and that’s the only thing we get judged on," Reid told SEN Breakfast.

“Our intensity this season has been a lot higher than in previous seasons, going off the GPS data."

"The day he came down, from what I know, was a quieter session for us."

Reid is the second Collingwood veteran to hit back at Brown this week, with skipper Scott Pendlebury being the first to explain his teams side of the story.

Pendlebury reiterated that it was a "low-key" day for the team, saying that it was all about game preparation exercises with their JLT Community Series match held the next day.

The Magpies will kick off their 2018 AFL season versus the Hawks on Saturday night at the MCG.
