Collingwood star Jordan De Goey was absent from training on Friday morning due to an illness, unrelated to COVID.

It has also been confirmed that Will Hoskin-Elliott was absent for the same reason.

The pair have been a crucial part of the Magpies line-up, who have surprised many this season - currently sitting eighth on the ladder with a 3-3 record.

Hoskin-Elliott has been handy this season, averaging 14.2 disposals and 4.8 marks per game.

De Goey has been in outstanding form, coming off the back half of last year - since moving to the midfield, the 26-year-old has been among the Pies' best players each week.

The 2014 No.5 draft pick is out of contract this year and looms as one of the biggest names on the free agency market.

It's been reported that Collingwood would have to offer him a 'take it or leave it' deal, given cap space is further restricted due to big-money deals for Brodie Grundy and Darcy Moore.
