The Perth Football Club have confirmed the tragic death of WAFL ruckman Dakota Baldwin-Wright.

Holidaying in Prague over the Christmas break, the popular 25-year-old was involved in an accident with a train and has passed away as a result.

According to The West Australian, the 44-game WAFL player was hit by a train.

“Despite the intensive braking of the train set, the train driver was unable to prevent a collision. According to criminologists, it was most likely an unfortunate accident,” police said in a translated statement obtained by the publication.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) are assisting the family in the aftermath of the accident, although they are unable to provide any information on exactly what that assistance looks like owing to privacy obligations.

The club - known as the Demons - took to social media to express their sorrow at the death of the ruckman, who the club said would always be remembered for his contribution to the club.

"The Perth Football Club are shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Daktoa Baldwin-Wright. Dakota was involved in an accident whilst travelling overseas," wrote the club president Adrian Barich.

"He was an outstanding young man who was much admired and will always be remembered for his cobntribution to the club.

"On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to send our thoughts to Dakota's family and friends in this difficult time.

"Our priority over the coming weeks will be to support his family, our players and the PFC community."

Baldwin-Wright's 44 WAFL games were added too with another 25 games for the Colts side in 2016 and 2017, and 45 for the reserve team.
