The GWS Giants have reportedly shown interest in acquiring former Gold Coast forward Tom Berry following the 25-year-old's axing last month.

Berry has played in Queensland his whole AFL career, starting at the Brisbane Lions where he was taken as a second-round draft selection in 2018, before moving to the Suns for a three-season, 23-game stint.

He did not feature at senior level during their historic 2025 campaign, and averaged 22.5 disposals per game at VFL level where he featured more as a midfielder. He starred in his final game of the season, collecting 43 disposals and laying seven tackles against, ironically, GWS' VFL side in Round 21.

At his best, the 25-year-old is a highly-rated pressure forward, and has been known to be deployed in defensive forward roles to quell the opposition's best ball users off half-back.

Berry has also reportedly been on the radar of West Coast, but the Giants are another club looking at adding some depth to their front half, considering the injuries sustained to several central figures to their attack.

Livewire small forward Darcy Jones suffered a heartbreaking ACL injury in the Giants' elimination final loss to Hawthorn, while Brent Daniels recently underwent surgery to alleviate a lingering groin concern.

It was also reported on Wednesday that midfielder Josh Kelly will miss the majority of the 2026 season, with a significant surgery on his hip impending.

The Giants are yet to acquire any rival players officially during this year's free agency and trade period, but will almost certainly sign Jayden Laverde via unrestricted free agency before the end of the week. They also appear to be in the box seat to land troubled star midfielder Clayton Oliver after meeting with him earlier this week.
