North Melbourne hybrid Tarryn Thomas has been charged by Victoria Police with one count of threatening to distribute an intimate image.

The charge was laid after allegations of "intimidatory behaviour" were levelled against the 22-year-old on Wednesday afternoon.

As first reported by The Herald Sun, the Tasmanian Roo allegedly engaged in said behaviour when interacting with a former partner on social media.

On "several instances", Thomas is alleged to have acted in an untoward manner when engaging with the anonymous party's online posts.

The North Melbourne Football Club confirmed these reports, expressing to NewsCorp that it had been made "aware of a current police investigation involving a player".

The Roos' statement also stressed that the player was "co-operating with police" and that "the club has reported the matter to the AFL's Integrity Unit."

These latest allegations come off the back of a previous incident in July of last year, one where Thomas was caught driving with a suspended licence - a penalty that saw his car impounded for 30 days.

On-field, Thomas' 2022 season was one to forget, with the high-priced youngster turning out at AFL level on just 10 occasions, with form and the death of a family member interrupting his campaign.

The former first-round draftee remains on leave from his duties at Arden Street.
