Collingwood may have missed out on Hawthorn's Mitch Lewis, but could they go after a Saint to help their forward line?

A forgotten Dockers assistant is being hunted by the Blues and Bombers.

Pies and Hill set to settle while a leading favourite to coach South Australia has been revealed.

All that and more from media buzz...

Pies-King 2.0?

Collingwood has been encouraged to go after St Kilda's Max King. That's right. Not his brother, Ben, who is currently weighing up his future at the Suns.

Max returned to the AFL for the first time on the weekend, but after scans revealed a hamstring strain, he has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

“A new club, a new environment, a new medical team, perhaps greater resources, and the club that makes sense – and really the only club that I think fits – is Collingwood,” Kane Cornes said on Channel 7's The Agenda Setters.

“They're at a stage where they can and need to take a risk on a player like that.

“Would they carry the burden of the contract until the end of 2032? I probably think they would.

“I think it's a risk worth taking for the Pies and I think it's the change of scenery and, really, the last throw at the stumps for Max and his career.”

Only one man in Blues and Bombers coaching camp

Fremantle's Jaymie Graham is the only name Essendon and Carlton are considering.

A report on Footy Classified revealed Graham is into the second round for both gigs.

Dockers coach Justin Longmuir endorsed his assistant for either role.

“I think he's got a great resume and ticks a lot of boxes, and he's got my blessing to talk to whoever he needs to talk to,” Longmuir said.

“He has great relationships with his players, he's a really strong educator, and I think he's got a well-rounded resume in terms of coaching his own team, but also coaching different lines at different footy clubs and seeking different cultures to work around and be involved in.

“There's probably not too many better resumes out there, I wouldn't have thought.”

No payday for Hill

Collingwood will still look after the welfare of Bobby Hill, but is expected to put an end to paying the Norm Smith Medallist beyond this year.

Hill and the Pies will split at season's end after a tumultuous 18 months, with the forward rarely at the club.

According to The Agenda Setters, Collingwood won't be paying despite the contract running until 2030.

McRae for SA

Collingwood premiership coach Craig McRae is tipped to lead South Australia into State of Origin.

The continuation of Origin football was confirmed on Monday for the next three years, with SA joining Western Australia and Victoria.
