Geelong is yet to make a selection call on captain Patrick Dangerfield for Thursday's mouth-watering contest against Collingwood at the MCG.
Dangerfield battled through a hip concern in last week's win over Melbourne and was training on Tuesday.
"No, we haven't made that decision yet," Cats coach Chris Scott said.
"It is on the table, I think I flagged last night on AFL 360 that it is unlikely that we would take him through consecutive games for hopefully two months. Whether it is this week or not, we are not quite sure.
"It will depend on how he pulls up, so we will know more after our session today. I guess the only thing I would say, it is more nuanced and hopefully more sophisticated from our perspective than just looking at the fixture and saying he has played x number of games, so therefore he should miss here.
"We have always taken that approach, and we will continue to, but if you take a step back and look at the macro-plan, we have said for a long time now with Pat that it is unlikely he will play every game every season.
"It is the way it has played out, but we do have a bit of experience with this now."
Utility Sam De Koning is poised to return to face the Pies after he battled illness last week.
Scott confirmed Oisin Mullin will tag Collingwood star Nick Daicos.
Jordan De Goey is also in doubt as he works his way through illness.
