Recently delisted Demon Adam Tomlinson may be offered a last-minute opportunity to earn an AFL lifeline, with West Coast considering the 185-gamer as an SSP signing.
Tomlinson spent five seasons at Melbourne after departing GWS in 2019, and has played 185 games at the top flight.
Tallying just 45 games in the red and blue, the 31-year-old missed time due to ACL injury in 2021, and then remained on the fringe as he struggled to beat Jake Lever, Steven May, and Tom McDonald for a spot in defence, selected just eight times in 2024.
Tomlinson was delisted in October, with the Magpies and Saints reportedly circling the veteran. The key backman said he had spoken to Collingwood and Gold Coast about a potential third home during his AFL career but was not picked up as a delisted free agent.
However, less than three weeks away from the close of the SSP window, West Coast are "strongly considering" signing the swingman, per theย Herald Sun's Jay Clark, giving Tomlinson the chance to continue his footballing career.
Tomlinson reportedly met with the Eagles' list manager Matt Clarke last week in Victoria to discuss his prospects of heading to Western Australia as a train-on player, and potentially even gain the Eagles' final list spot.
The 31-year-old would be vying with former Sun Sandy Brock, who has been training with the club since the SSP window opened in November, as well as ex-Saint James Van Es - another key defender.
Previously, delisted Eagle Coby Burgiel was also invited to train for his spot back, but was let go in December.
The SSP window closes on February 21, giving the Eagles two and a half weeks to determine whether they provide Tomlinson with an AFL lifeline, should they invite him to train with the club.
